Switching from Lodgify?
How to move your holiday home website

Lodgify is a strong platform — but it is built for owners with a portfolio. With a single holiday home you pay for features you never touch and find your way around a dashboard designed for property managers. This article covers what Lodgify does well, where Casa Hero is different, and how to switch in six steps — domain name included, without downtime.

What Lodgify does well

Credit where it is due: Lodgify is one of the best-known names in holiday rentals for a reason. The platform has aimed at exactly the right goal for years — making owners less dependent on Airbnb and Booking.com — and it shows in the feature set.

  • A full channel manager, letting you manage rates and availability centrally across Airbnb, Booking.com and Vrbo
  • A booking engine with online payments, so guests pay by card on your own site
  • Built for multiple properties under one account — from two apartments to hundreds of units
  • Plenty of automation: messaging flows, dynamic pricing, integrations with external services
  • Solid onboarding, including a personal setup call

Do you have three or more properties, rent out as a business, or want everything from a single screen? Then Lodgify is an excellent choice and you can stop reading here.

Why single-property owners still switch

The reasons we hear in practice almost always come down to the same thing: the tool is bigger than the job.

  • Too many features. A dashboard full of multi-property modules, while you rent out one home and mostly want to see your calendar and your enquiries.
  • Monthly cost that is hard to predict. Four plans priced per property, varying by currency, billing period and whichever promotion is running — and the features you need for one home are not all in the cheapest plan.
  • Building takes time. The website builder is powerful, but you are the web designer: dragging blocks, writing copy, arranging translations.
  • Support at a distance. Perfectly well organised, but after onboarding you land with a support department rather than someone who knows your property.

The underlying idea stays the same. Switching does not mean giving up direct bookings — you keep exactly the same approach, in a system tuned to one holiday home.

What it costs per month

An honest comparison is harder here than it looks. Lodgify works with four plans and a price per property, and what you pay depends on your currency, the number of properties, whether you pay monthly or yearly, and whichever promotion is running. They do not charge commission on your bookings: you pay the subscription and keep your rental income.

As an indication, Lodgify starts at $14 per month for one property; the cheapest plan that includes your own booking website comes to $26 per month. Figures checked in juli 2026 — for your own situation always check Lodgify's pricing page.

Casa Hero works with one fixed amount in euros for one holiday home:

  • €12,50 per month — complete booking website with calendar, enquiries, photos and reviews
  • €22,50 per month — including your own domain name and a multilingual site
  • €29,50 per month — with the extras for those who want everything out of it

No commission, no per-booking fees and no separate hosting or certificate bill. What the platforms themselves cost you is set out in an alternative to Airbnb.

Switching in six steps

The key to a calm migration: you build the new site next to the old one and only switch over once everything checks out. Your site is never offline and you miss no enquiries.

  1. Create your Casa Hero siteEnter the details of your property; the site is built automatically, including copy, layout and information about the surroundings. This takes a few minutes and is free to try.
  2. Move your photos and copy acrossDownload your photos from Lodgify and upload them in one go. Adjust the generated text into your own words — that reads more personally than what is there now.
  3. Bring over your rates and calendarSet up your rates per period and connect your existing iCal links from Airbnb or Booking.com. Bookings arriving there immediately block your new calendar.
  4. Enter your current bookingsThrough the iCal link of your Lodgify calendar, or by hand — for one property that is quickly done. Then check that your whole season is correct.
  5. Point your domain name acrossOnly once the site is ready. From that moment your familiar web address leads to your new site; we arrange the security certificate automatically.
  6. Cancel LodgifyWait until you have been live for a few days and your first enquiry has come in. Mind the notice period if you are on an annual plan.

You can build a complete booking website for your holiday home in a few minutes — calendar, enquiries, reviews and multiple languages included. Free to try, no strings attached, and we will think along about the migration.

Bringing your domain name

This is the step owners dread most, and in practice the easiest one. Your domain name does not belong to your website builder — it is registered in your name and can always come with you.

  • Leave the domain where it is. You change one setting at your current registrar: the A record now points to Casa Hero. Your email is untouched, because that runs through different records.
  • Transfer the domain. Prefer everything in one place? Request an authorisation code from your current provider; we take over the registration and can set up a mailbox for you as well.
  • A new domain name. If you have been renting out on an address belonging to Lodgify itself, we register a domain of your own — and it stays yours.

You keep the same domain name, so the value you have built up in Google is not lost. Do make sure the most important pages of your old site get a logical counterpart, so existing links do not lead nowhere.

Careful with your email. Does your mailbox run through the same provider as your website? Then leave the MX records alone and change only the A record — otherwise your mail stops temporarily. Not sure? Send us your current settings and we will take a look.

When you are better off staying with Lodgify

Casa Hero is deliberately narrow. If you recognise yourself in the points below, Lodgify suits you better and we would rather say so now:

  • You rent out three or more properties and want to manage them from one dashboard
  • You want to push rates centrally to Airbnb, Booking.com and Vrbo rather than per platform
  • You want guests to pay online on your own site, including automatic deposits
  • You have a team with different users and permissions

Renting out one home, wanting a polished site without building it yourself, and preferring a short line to a real person over an extensive system? That is exactly what Casa Hero was made for.

Everything about switching from Lodgify

Yes. Your domain name is separate from your website. If you registered the domain yourself, you only point the A record to Casa Hero and everything else stays as it is. If the domain sits with Lodgify or their registrar, you can transfer it using an authorisation code. We can handle that step for you if you like, security certificate included.

No. You bring existing bookings across through the iCal link of your Lodgify calendar, or you enter them by hand — for a single property that is usually a matter of minutes. As long as both systems run side by side, your availability stays correct everywhere.

That is exactly the recommended approach. You build your Casa Hero site at your own pace while Lodgify keeps running, and only switch your domain across once you are happy. Casa Hero has a free trial period, so you are not paying twice during that phase. You cancel Lodgify only after going live.

No, and that is a deliberate choice. Casa Hero uses two-way iCal synchronisation: bookings from Airbnb or Booking.com automatically block your own calendar, and your direct bookings block the calendar on those platforms. For a single holiday home that is enough in practice; if you want to manage rates and descriptions centrally across ten platforms, a real channel manager suits you better.

No. Casa Hero deliberately does not process guest payments: your guest pays you directly, using the payment details you send along with one click. That saves transaction fees and keeps the money between you and your guest. If you specifically want guests to pay by card at the moment of booking, that is a point where Lodgify offers more.

No. Lodgify states on its own pricing page that it does not charge commission on bookings; you pay a fixed subscription per property. What that costs depends on your currency, the number of properties, the billing period and whichever promotion is running — always check lodgify.com/pricing for your own situation.

Casa Hero starts at 12,50 euros per month for one holiday home, billed in euros and without commission or booking fees. With your own domain name you end up at 22,50 euros per month. There are no additional per-booking costs.

Yes. Casa Hero is small: you get answers from the same person who builds the platform, usually within a day. During the switch we help with the domain name, the DNS settings and checking your calendar links.
